Moong Dal pakoda or bhajia is a popular street food from Mumbai, Now popular in Delhi as well.Moong dal bhajia is made from yellow moong dal or green moong dal.Green moong dal is healthier then the yellow one,so I have used grren moong dal for this recipe.These bhajias are also called moong dal fritters and are available at all corners and streets of Mumbai.
This is a very tasty snack which is favorite of kids as well.These pakodas can be made in maximum 20 minutes if you soak the moong dal overnight.This is one of the healthiest snack .My kids love these balls a lot but I always used to worry about frying them so this time I have made them in Appe Pan and they taste equally good and yummy.I also felt so good as health is on my top list always.I have used just a drop of oil to greese the Appe Pan and the best part is that you can have them for dinner as well if you are health conscious and interested in losing weight.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Cup Split Moong Dal
- 1 Onion - Chopped
- 1 Green Chili Chopped
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger - Chopped
- Salt To taste
- Red Chili Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Garam Masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
- Coriander Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
How To make Moong Dal Pakoda / Bhajiya
Soak 1 Cup split green Moong Dal (Chilka Moong Dal) in water overnight. Next morning drain the excess water and grind the Dal in a grinder to form a paste.
Add The Chopped Onion
Add Chopped Ginger
Add The Chopped Green Chilies
Add Salt to taste
Add Chili Pepper
Add Coriander powder
Add Garam Masala
Mix all the Ingredients and greece the appe pan with a drop of oil.Then put the mixture in all the cavities.
Cover the lid and cook for 3-4 minutes.Then invert them with the help of a spoon and again cook for 3 -4 minutes.
